Suqian city in Jiangsu province recently renovated the 500kV Xuzhou-Shanghai transmission line section that fell within its jurisdiction to ensure its regular operation and further contribute to the country's north-south electricity transmission project.
The transmission line, first put into operation in December 1987, connects three 500 kV substations in Jiangsu and is mainly used to transport electricity from a Xuzhou-based coal-fired power plant to Shanghai.
Li Jun, an inspection staff from the State Grid's Suqian Power Supply Co, said the renovation involved 68.48 kilometers of transmission line. Besides, all the old transmission towers have been replaced to improve the ability to resist damage.
Li said he has been responsible for inspecting and maintaining the transmission line for several decades, with an average annual patrol mileage of nearly 40,000 kilometers.
"No matter what the weather or time it is, we will promptly arrive at the scene when there is an electrical hazard," said Li.
According to Li, both the stability and security of the transmission line will be significantly enhanced after the renovation, and the company will continue to provide sound support for its regular operation.
