A book on China’s modernization made quite a splash at the Panama International Book Fair 2024, held from Aug 13 to 18. Unique Path, Global Impact: China’s Exploration of Its Own Modernization Path Has Far-reaching Effects, is compiled by China Daily and published by the China Intercontinental Press.

The event, hosted at the Atlapa Convention Center in Panama City and supported by Panama’s Ministry of Education and Ministry of Culture, brought together hundreds of publishers from 15 countries and regions for a vibrant cultural exchange.

On the occasion of the 7th anniversary of China-Panama diplomatic relations, the China Intercontinental Press showcased a wide range of China-themed books. Covering politics, economy, culture, history, literature, and other fields, these books are primarily available in Spanish, as also in Chinese and English, to cater to a variety of readers. Available at the fair were contemporary development-themed books on China, and cultural books that carry the essence of Chinese traditional culture, such as the “Beauty of China” series.

The book on Chinese modernization compiled by China Daily, featuring insights from renowned experts and former officials in China and abroad, sold out on the first day itself. The book offers a look into Chinese modernization and addresses global queries about what Chinese modernization means for the world. It engages a global audience, underscoring the growing international interest in Chinese culture and perspectives.

The China Intercontinental Press promoted the books at the fair while its Spanish-language digital platform Es Libros promoted it online. Es Libros, which offers Spanish audiobooks and e-books with a focus on Chinese content, draws significant attention from Latin American readers.

The China Intercontinental Press also leveraged its popular Spanish-language Facebook page, Es China, to share updates from the fair. Their posts reached 330,000 people, triggered 115,000 interactions, and their videos accumulated over 160,000 views.
