Converted farm houses benefit farmers and workers in Zhejiang

Since 2023, the Xinyi village in Xiuzhou district, Jiaxing, Zhejiang province has started to lease back vacant farm houses and re-rent to enterprises to benefit local farmers and company employees.
The village, which currently owns 41 apartment blocks with 608 rooms, has helped to solve the accommodation difficulties for 1,600 employees, bringing an increased income to local farmers that participated in the program at around 20,000 to 30,000 yuan ($2,817-$4,226) each year.
Last year, the collective economic operating income of Xinyi village had increased by more than 600,000 yuan, according to a Xinhua report.
