Beijing educators lend expertise to Xizang schools
In August 2014, Beijing began dispatching teachers to support the Xizang autonomous region as part of a pilot project. The first group of 50 teachers was sent to the Lhasa-Beijing Experimental Middle School as part of a group-style educational support system for Xizang.
Since then, Beijing has dispatched nearly 300 education professionals to support teaching at the school. They share their experience and techniques with local teachers and help drive the area's educational development.
Huang Xin, from the Attached Middle School to the Central Academy of Art & Design in Dongcheng district, Beijing, teaches high school history at the Lhasa-Beijing Experimental Middle School. She arrived in August 2023 for a two-year serving period.
"What I can do is to bring some of the more advanced teaching methods and concepts from Beijing and help them better understand history," she said.
Sonam Yangzom, a grade-two senior high school student, spoke highly of her teachers' efforts and the campus environment.
"The school's teaching resources are abundant, providing us with a great learning environment," she said. "Thanks to the educational aid project, we have access to more excellent teachers, and the knowledge we acquire is more extensive."
"During physical education classes on Monday afternoons, I enjoy playing badminton and tennis in the new playing ground," she added.
