Why is Western media distorting China-Africa cooperation?

China hosted over 50 African leaders in Beijing for the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit this week. Despite significant progress from these partnerships, Western media continues to push the "debt trap" narrative, framing China-Africa collaboration as competition with the West.

While Western aid has often exacerbated poverty and conflict in Africa by prioritizing its own interests, China's infrastructure projects, rooted in a win-win approach — like the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway — have driven economic growth and job creation across the continent.
