Some 1,946 students have been relocated after three suspected pipe leak risks were discovered near a school's football field adjacent to the Yonghe River embankment in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, according to the region's emergency management department on Thursday.

The suspected leaks have been corrected, and follow-up work to control the damage is ongoing, according to the department.

Nanning and other cities in Guangxi, including Baise and Qinzhou, have experienced heavy torrential rains recently.

The water level at the Yujiang Nanning Hydrological Station reached 76.18 meters, exceeding the warning level by 3.18 meters. Over the next 12 hours, the water level in the urban section of Nanning along the Yujiang River is expected to rise by approximately 0.1 meters, reaching the highest flood peak since 2001, according to the authorities.
