Jilin girl wins Guinness World Record for rope skipping

Zhao Yitong and her coach Wang Huanan were thrilled recently to receive a Guinness World Records certificate for her attempt to make the most double under skips on alternate legs in one minute.

Zhao, 9, a third-grade student at Songjiang East Road Primary School in Jilin city, Jilin province, completed the challenge with 176 skips in one minute.

She started learning rope skipping at age 5, and in 2021, she won two championships with her debut in the national online rope skipping competition.

She has won 25 national championships and three international championships.

"Her attempt was based on the double under skips in one minute and completed in an alternating manner by switching from both feet to single-foot, which added diversity to the activity and increased the level of difficulty," said Wang, who also holds the Guinness World Record for the most double under skips with long rope jumping in one minute and three minutes.
