A new route of China-Europe Express Railway (Wuhan) opened recently to reach Gothenburg, Sweden which expects to boost trading of new energy products between China and North Europe.

The inaugural train departed from Wuhan, Hubei province, on Wednesday, transporting new energy vehicles and auto parts bound for Gothenburg. It first left China from the Alataw Pass in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and made its way to Hamburg, Germany, where the cargo was transferred to ships for the destination.

The journey will last approximately 23 days, which is half the time required by the traditional method of solely using maritime transport.

Hubei expects to export more new energy products to North Europe through the route, with major NEV manufacturers such as Dongfeng Motor Corp participating. Both China and North Europe have pioneered green transformation.

Currently, the China-Europe Express Railway (Wuhan) has 55 cross-border routes to reach 117 cities in 40 countries, including three North European countries: Finland, Norway and Sweden.
