The southwestern municipality has explored two major transportation routes — the China-Europe freight train service and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. Both routes have realized an efficient use of a variety of transportation modes, including railways, highways, waterways and airways.

The trade corridor's logistics network has expanded rapidly over the past few years. It connects Europe to Southeast Asia, with Chongqing as a junction station. "The network now reaches 523 ports in 124 countries and regions," said Duan Bensheng, deputy general manager of New Land-Sea Corridor Operation, on Monday.

According to the Chongqing Development and Reform Commission, from January to August this year, the number of cargo transported via the land-sea trade corridor reached 166,000 TEUs, with a cargo value of 31 billion yuan ($4.4 billion). The import and export value of the China-Europe Railway (Chongqing) reached 44.33 billion yuan.
