Inbound travel orders surge 60% for National Day holiday

Inbound travel orders have surged by 60 percent for the upcoming National Day holiday, which falls from Oct 1 to Oct 7, and the number of trips and tourism consumption are expected to hit a record high, according to the latest data released by Chinese online travel agency Trip.com.

The price of flight tickets for domestic and outbound travel has fallen by more than 20 percent compared with the same period of the previous year, and hotel prices have also dropped, said the report.

Tourists from first- and second-tier cities are contributing to rural tour orders, as it seen an increase in orders by 60 percent compared with the same period of the previous year.

The average flight price for cross-border destinations to Japan, the United Kingdom, and Singapore, has dropped by more than 30 percent thanks to the restoration of flight capacity and frequency.

In terms of cross-border tourism, the inbound tourism registered a faster growth than that of outbound tourism, and the number of orders rose by 60 percent year-on-year.

For domestic travel, cheaper flight prices are available for visitors.

Flights from Beijing to Arxan in Inner Mongolia, Shanghai to Wuhan in Central China's Hubei province, and Guangzhou to Fuzhou in East China's Fujian province are all recording a low price at around 300 yuan ($42.65) (excluding tax).

In addition, the volume of family trips booked for the National Day holiday accounted for over 30 percent of the total, and educational tour orders have seen an increase at around 40 percent more than that of previous year, according to the report.
