Lianjiang city shows off appliance quality during Canton Fair

The city of Lianjiang, a major home appliance production base in western Guangdong province, expects the global platform of the China Import and Export Fair will increase its international market share in the months to come, the city's top official said.

The event — also known as the Canton Fair — is the largest international trade event with the most international buyers held in China.

"It aims to further advance Sino-foreign cooperation while sparing no effort to expand sales at home and abroad," said Chen Encai, Party chief of Lianjiang, a county-level city administered by Zhanjiang.

The 2024 Lianjiang Home Appliances (Guangzhou) Expo is running from Tuesday to Thursday and nearby the larger Canton Fair.

"Thirty-four of Lianjiang's most powerful home appliance companies are participating in the expo to display their latest products and most advanced technologies — their best products — to promote Lianjiang's home appliance brands to more global markets and expand sales this year," Chen said.

Lianjiang, which is also known for producing high-quality kitchen equipment, now has more than 1,200 home appliance manufacturers. The city's home appliance production and sales represent more than 30 percent of the country's total.

Production and sales of home appliance spare parts account for 60 percent of the country's total, forming a nearly complete industrial chain from product research and development to domestic and foreign trade, Chen added.

Lianjiang's home appliances have been sold in more than 100 nations and region worldwide, he said.

Stephen Budisa, a business representative from Australia, said Lianjiang's home appliance industry notably strives for perfection in the manufacturing process.

"In addition to excellent quality, its product design is on the leading edge. The fashionable styling and has totally integrated the aesthetic of the modern home environment," Budisa said.

This, in turn, makes Lianjiang home appliances more competitive in the global market, he said.
