'Toilet revolution' moving forward in Hangzhou
One of the Lansing Public Toilets, located near Autumn Moon on Calm Lake, features a large LED display at its entrance, showing real-time data such as foot traffic, stall occupancy, PM2.5 levels, humidity, and sulfur and nitrogen levels in the air. Inside, the sounds of chirping birds play softly in the background, while subtle fragrances are released into the air, creating a refreshing and soothing atmosphere. The men's restroom spans 38 square meters with 14 stalls, while the women's restroom is 86.6 square meters with 23 stalls. Upon entering, visitors can use contactless sensors to draw toilet paper, and if more paper is needed, they can scan a QR code.
The coffeehouse on the second floor of the restroom brings more surprises. Designed in an Instagram-worthy industrial style, the coffeehouse features an outdoor "sky garden" where photography enthusiasts can take pictures and share them on social media. The indoor space provides coffee and tea to visitors who can relax and chat as they enjoy drinks.
