Phiona Nyamutoro, minister of State for Mineral Development in Uganda, spoke highly of China's role in promoting global energy transition at the ongoing Third Belt and Road Energy Ministerial Conference held in Qingdao, Shandong province.
"Creative cooperation with China and initiatives like the Belt and Road Energy Partnership will help us boost our drive toward energy transition across the world. We hope that we get to tap into many opportunities from China, like technological transfer, research and also green financing," she said.
The partnership was initiated by China's National Energy Administration and its membership has expanded to 34 as of date.
"We are still doing a lot in terms of our mineral development in Uganda. We have so far 58 discovered minerals and we have barely tapped into even a quarter of the potential that we have. There are a lot of open windows and opportunities that we would love China to come and tap to in terms of investment, research, and technological transfer," Nyamutoro said.
