China warns EU against separate EV price negotiations

China urged the European Union to refrain from holding separate talks with specific automakers regarding the bloc's anti-subsidy case involving Chinese electric vehicles, warning that such actions could undermine mutual trust, said the Ministry of Commerce on Monday.

If the European side, while negotiating with the Chinese side, simultaneously conducts separate price commitment negotiations with certain companies, it will shake mutual trust, disrupt the overall negotiation process, add more administrative costs to the subsequent implementation and supervision of the price commitment agreement, said the ministry's spokesperson in an online statement.

Currently, both parties have entered the next phase of negotiations, with China expressing hope for accelerated progress within the existing framework. Building on prior discussions, China aims for a substantive breakthrough soon, said the commerce official.

China and the EU have conducted multiple rounds of negotiations, made considerable efforts and achieved some progress, according to the statement.
