AI-empowered smart governance should incorporate inclusiveness, equality and diversity while enhancing multilateral cooperation, experts said at a recent forum in Beijing.

Smart governance in the new era should be human-centered, integrating technical rationality and value rationality to satisfy the multi-agent, diversified and multi-layered demands from the many levels of social interests, said Zhu Xinkai, vice-president of the Renmin University of China, at the forum titled "global smart governance and new forms of human development".

He further stated that to achieve smart governance, scientists and experts need not only the high efficiency of AI technologies but also respect for humanity. The event was a sideline of the Tongzhou Global Development Forum hosted by RUC.

Addressing the need for AI security within smart governance, Wang Weiping, deputy director of the Institute of Information Engineering at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that there should be more international interaction and cooperation on AI security.

Su Hang, a deputy researcher in the Computer Science Department at Tsinghua University, said a capable system is absent of efficient supervision on advanced large-model technologies, as they are mastered by only a few companies.

Hence, Su stressed the importance for scientists and experts to exchange ideas and enhance international communication.
