Every fall, Red Beach in Hongshiya subdistrict of Qingdao's West Coast New Area in Shandong province is transformed into a vivid natural masterpiece. Vibrant fields of deep red Suaeda glauca Bunge — known locally as jianpeng grass — blanket the landscape.
As fall approaches, the plants transition from green to a radiant red. As they soak up the river and seawater, their color deepens to a breathtaking crimson, spreading across the land like a luxurious red veil.
This brilliant crimson stretches as far as the eye can see, creating an amazing view, with waterbirds nestling amid winding rivers, old boats and bridges. All are set against the striking scarlet hues of the grass.
