Fudan Development Institute partners with Macao institutions to establish the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Strategic Research Center on November 11 in Shanghai.

The Fudan Development Institute, Macao China-Portugal Economic, Trade and Culture Promotion Association and the Macao Chinese Youth Chamber of Commerce signed a memorandum on November 11 in Shanghai, to jointly promote the establishment of the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Strategic Research center. The center aims to enhance comprehensive cooperation between Fudan University and Portuguese-speaking countries, fostering mutual understanding and exchanges.

Chen Zhimin, vice-president of Fudan University, highlighted the university's multidisciplinary strengths and extensive international collaboration experience, pledging to leverage Macao's platform under the "one country, two systems" principle to advance cooperation with Portuguese-speaking nations and deepen mutual comprehension.

According to Bernardo Mendia, secretary-general of the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCILC), since its establishment in 1978, CCILC has been dedicated to bolstering economic, cultural and social relations between China and Portugal. He also stressed the importance of enhancing communication among schools, scholars and students.

The signatories engaged in detailed discussions regarding strategic cooperation measures for the center. They agreed that the new platform would further deepen the diversified cooperation between the Chinese and Portuguese-speaking youth, unite Macao's native Portuguese youth and capitalize on Macao's role as a bridge between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. This initiative aims to familiarize Macao's Portuguese youth with their homeland and facilitate their integration into China's broader development.
