The 2024 Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) China is underway at Fudan University's School of Management in Shanghai's Yangpu district, bringing together more than 2,000 innovators from around the world to chart new pathways for the industrial transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
Hosted by the Shanghai Technology Entrepreneurship Foundation for Graduates (EFG), the weeklong event runs until Nov 24 with over 50 activities focusing on embodied artificial intelligence, biomedicine, advanced manufacturing, angel funding and green science.
Six startups were honored with entrepreneurship awards and a list of top 30 angel investors was released at the opening ceremony on Wednesday. In addition, nine research initiatives were unveiled as EFG's "angel fund" concept verification projects and awarded financial support.
Investors, business executives and industry professionals in academia delivered speeches and shared insights on innovation and entrepreneurship in specific sectors. The speakers included Jeff Hoffman, chairman of the board of the Global Entrepreneurship Network, who highlighted the importance of global collaboration based on his entrepreneurial experience.
In a bid to open up and expand funding channels for startup companies, GEW China 2024 connects a number of business projects with more than 500 investment institutions and more than 100 enterprises of large scale through sub-line events, such as resource-matching meetings and corporation financing roadshows.
Aligned with the latest trends in sci-tech advancement, the event also consists of thematic activities and competitions centered on many frontier fields, such as low-altitude economy and zero-carbon emission technologies, aiming to tap the potential of emerging industries as well as paving the way for a sustainable future.
