2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the comprehensive operation of the middle route of China's South-to-North Water Diversion Project, which transfers water from the country's water-rich south to the arid north.
Stretching 1,432 kilometers, the middle route of the project began supplying water in December 2014. In the past 10 years, the route has transferred over 68 billion cubic meters of water, benefiting over 100 million people in Henan and Hebei provinces, Tianjin and the capital Beijing.
The following photos provide a visual on its scale, several key projects and how far the "southern water" travels to quench the parched dry land areas in the north.
