A public prosecution has been initiated against Li Pengxin, former deputy secretary of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee of the Communist Party of China, on charges of bribery-taking, the Supreme People's Procuratorate said on Wednesday.
Information published on the Supreme People's Procuratorate website said Li was charged for taking advantage of a number of positions he had assumed in Qinghai province, Inner Mongolia autonomous region and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region to seek benefits for others and for accepting significantly large amounts in bribes.
In June, the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision announced the decision to expel Li from the CPC and dismiss him from public office.
