Mao Qi, the former Party chief of Wannian county in Shangrao, Jiangxi province, was formally charged with alleged bribery on Thursday.

The Xinyu people's procuratorate has accused Mao of corrupt practices, alleging that he used his position for personal gain in project contracting and fund disbursement, including unlawfully accepting significant amounts of money.

Mao was expelled from the Communist Party of China and dismissed from his post last month.

Public information shows that Mao, born in March 1982, is a native of Shangrao, Jiangxi. He joined the Communist Party of China in 2000 and began working in 2003. He previously served on the Party committee and the government of Wannian county.
