With temperatures falling in Shanxi province, Hukou Waterfall on the Yellow River in Jixian county has formed a unique ice floe scene.

Water strikes the rocks, creating piles of foam and a shroud of mist and rainbow, which visitors and photographers are eager to observe.

The water in the Hukou section of the Yellow River is currently at a low level, according to the local hydrological department.

The ice floe appeared on Saturday morning for the first time this winter, 11 days later than last year.

Hukou Waterfall is the second-largest in China and the largest on the Yellow River. It is located at the border between Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces.

To ensure the safety and comfort of visitors, management at the scenic area has strengthened safety patrols and guidance work, including adding warning signs, enhancing personnel guidance and ensuring clear emergency evacuation routes.
