At Qingxi Bridge, a key traffic route in the prefecture-city of Qingyuan in Guangdong province, passing driver Zhang Long lauded the "one-stop" emergency response mechanism launched by the local traffic police and road administration workers in ensuring the bridge's smooth traffic.

With the New Year's Day holiday approaching, comprehensive preparations and special measures have been adopted to safeguard the bridge's smooth travel for the public. The "one-stop" emergency response mechanism can allow traffic police quickly assign responsibility after an incident, while road administration officers simultaneously clear the obstruction and provides rescue, significantly reducing handling time.

At the Qingxi Bridge Project's monitoring center, an intelligent traffic system is playing a pivotal role, said the CCCC Road & Bridge Construction, which helped build the Qingxi Bridge, noting that with the help of a network of high-definition cameras and sensors, combined with in-depth big data analysis, the local employees can have a clear understanding of road conditions.

The system not only monitors traffic volume and speed in real time, but also accurately predicts peak traffic periods and specific road sections, allowing for precise measures to be implemented 30 minutes or 60 minutes in advance to effectively divert vehicles and prevent congestion.

According to the road administration officer Li Sen, "The intelligent system acts like a 'smart brain', making our traffic management work more precise and efficient."

The local traffic police and road administration officers jointly initiated a "Traffic Police-Road Administration Department Quick Response WeChat Group," enabling instant information sharing and greatly improving the efficiency of handling emergencies.

It has been learned that as Qingyuan occasionally experiences strong winds in winter and the management authorities have already taken preventive measures, with a large stock of warning signs, reflective traffic cones, windbreak sandbags, and other supplies prepared.

Before a windstorm hits, local officers will set up wind barriers on the bridge's windward side and key road sections, placing warning signs and reflective traffic cones to remind drivers of proceeding with caution and reducing speed. At the same time, inspections of various bridge facilities are intensified.

In addition, the intelligent traffic system closely monitors wind speed changes, and once the wind speed exceeds the safety threshold, early warning information is promptly issued to drivers through broadcasts and electronic displays, guiding drivers safely and orderly across the bridge.

Zhang Long noted: "The seamless collaboration between the traffic police and road administration departments makes the journey across the bridge safe and smooth."
