LAS VEGAS -- The 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) will showcase how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is improving productivity, enhancing customer experiences, and driving medical breakthroughs, Gary Shapiro, CEO and vice chair of the US Consumer Technology Association (CTA), organizer of CES, told Xinhua.
CES 2025, the world's premier tech show, will be held in the US city of Las Vegas from Jan 7 to 10. Exhibitors from more than 160 countries and regions have registered to attend the event.
AI, Digital Health and Wellness, Enterprise, as well as Transportation and Mobility are among the most important trends to watch at CES 2025, Shapiro told Xinhua.
"You'll see new applications of AI across the show floor, driving everything from AI-powered chips to AI-enabled drug discovery to smart factory solutions," Shapiro said.
"CES 2025 will showcase how AI is improving productivity, enhancing customer experiences, and driving medical breakthroughs. We're also excited to partner with Quantum World Congress on conference programming focused on quantum's capacity to enhance security, sensing and powerful computing," he noted.
The annual show will also present technologies like wearables, telemedicine, and AI-driven health solutions that aim to improve patient outcomes, enhance wellness, and lower healthcare costs, according to Shapiro.
New innovations in AI, 5G, and data analytics at CES are driving progress in areas including SaaS (Software as a service), financial technology, special computing and cybersecurity, Shapiro noted.
"At CES 2025, you'll also see an increased focus on the data centers and infrastructure powering the AI revolution," Shapiro told Xinhua.
CES 2024 has drawn over 138,000 attendees and over 4,300 exhibitors worldwide. Shapiro said that international exhibitor participation for CES 2025 is strong across global markets.
"On the attendee side, CES 2024 had over 40 percent of attendees come from outside the US and we are tracking at similar levels for CES 2025," he noted.
Chinese companies have been important forces at CES in recent years, impressing global exhibitors with innovative products and solutions.
Chinese exhibitors at CES 2025 include many CES Innovation Awards Honorees, in categories like AI, computer hardware and peripherals, digital health, mobile devices and accessories, smart home, sustainability and energy/power, robotics, XR, and -- one of the new categories for CES 2025 -- pet tech, Shapiro told Xinhua.
Some Chinese exhibitors were reported by media as being denied US visas despite holding invitations to attend CES 2025.
"We are aware of CES attendees and exhibitors from China who are getting their visa applications denied and are working with them to better understand the situation and help if we can," Shapiro told Xinhua.
"While we do not have any influence over the visa process, CTA encourages the US government to expedite and approve visas for individuals who are traveling to the US for legitimate business reasons," Shapiro noted.
