Magnitude 6.9 quake hits Japan, triggering tsunami warning

At around 9:19 pm on Monday, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck southwestern Japan's Miyazaki Prefecture with a maximum intensity of lower 5 on the Japanese seismic scale of 0 to 7.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the epicenter was at a depth of about 30 kilometers under the Hyuganada Sea. The agency issued a tsunami advisory for Miyazaki and Kochi prefectures, urging caution.
Tsunami height is expected to be up to 1 meter. No casualty or damage was reported at the time of going to press.
