Cappella group visits university for cultural exchanges

The Yale Spizzwinks, a cappella group from the Yale University, presented a music show together with teachers and students from Donghua University and its affiliate schools on March 12 in Shanghai.
Founded in 1914, the Spizzwinks is the oldest underclassman, a cappella group in the United States. Composed entirely of full-time undergraduate students, they have been performing concerts all over the world and contributing to promoting international cultural exchanges.
At the Songjiang campus of Donghua University, the group not only staged classical a cappella songs such as Blue Skies and No Regrets, but also performed popular Chinese songs such as Hao Han Ge (The Song of Heroes) and When You Get Old, as well as songs blending Western and Eastern melodies such as Wake Freshmen Wake and Lemon Tree. Echoing with the group, sing groups and choruses from Donghua University and its affiliate schools presented Chinese folk classics like Chanty of the Ussuri River and nursery rhymes. The concert was concluded by a joint performance of youths from both nations singing Auld Lang Syne.
