China hopes Wang's visit to enhance ties with Japan

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Friday that it is expected that through Foreign Minister Wang Yi's visit to Japan that the neighboring country will work with China to build a constructive and stable relationship fit for the new era.
According to Mao, Wang kicked off on Friday a visit to Japan, where he will attend the 11th China-Japan-ROK Trilateral Foreign Ministers' Meeting and co-chair the Sixth China-Japan High-Level Economic Dialogue.
"The China-Japan relationship is currently showing signs of improvement and development," Mao said, calling on the Japanese side to work in the same direction with the Chinese side to fully advance the strategic relationship of mutual benefit.
The spokeswoman also stressed the importance of China-Japan-ROK cooperation, saying that the three countries are inseparable neighbors and also significant economies in both the regional and global contexts.
"China is willing to collaborate with Japan and the Republic of Korea … to expand the convergence of interests, enhance the scope of cooperation and ensure that trilateral collaboration benefits the peoples of all three countries, thus contributing regional and global peace, stability and prosperity," she said.
