Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, made a visit to Jingshan Park in Beijing on Saturday, kicking off the top executive's first trip to China this year.

During the trip, Cook is scheduled to attend the China Development Forum on Sunday and he will meet senior Chinese government officials.

The trip highlighted Apple's emphasis on China, which is not only an important market, but also a key part of its supply chains and a major source of innovation for the company.

Cook said in an interview with China Daily last year that there's no supply chain in the world more critical to Apple than that of China.

"It's the partnership between Apple and Chinese companies that really makes things happen," said Cook.
