A flock of lapwings was recently spotted at Shuanggui Lake National Wetland Park in Chongqing's Liangping district, underscoring the success of local ecological restoration efforts and drawing numerous bird lovers.

Based on local AI monitoring data, the number of migratory birds wintering at Shuanggui Lake surged from just over 2,000 in 2019 to more than 10,000 last year. The park's avian biodiversity experienced remarkable growth, with the recorded species count expanding from 137 in 2018 to now exceeding 200.

Since 2019, the Chongqing Liangping Wetland Conservation Center has developed an advanced AI-driven bird monitoring platform. This system features 11 ultra-high-definition optical zoom cameras and is supported by powerful computational infrastructure, enabling it to analyze up to 30 real-time images per second. By comparing these images with a database containing information on over 2,000 bird species, the platform achieves an impressive 99 percent accuracy rate in bird species identification.
