China and India commit to boost personnel exchanges, address disputes

China and India will accelerate efforts to resume direct flights, facilitate personnel exchanges, and enable the reciprocal dispatch of reporters, while effectively addressing disputes and sensitive issues, according to the outcome of a meeting between officials from the foreign ministries of the two countries.

The consensus between Beijing and New Delhi were reaffirmed on Wednesday during a meeting between Liu Jinsong, director-general of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, and Gourangalal Das, joint secretary of the East Asia Division of the Ministry of External Affairs of India.

Both sides emphasized that China and India will strengthen communication and coordination within multilateral frameworks including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and in international and regional affairs, according to a news release by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to upholding multilateralism and promoting a multipolar world, safeguarding the common interests of the Global South, and promoting the development of bilateral relations along a healthy and stable track.

Both sides will work to advance the outcomes of recent high-level bilateral exchanges and actively promote cooperation at all levels and in various fields, the news release said.
