Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on Monday that China's policy toward South Korea remains consistent, stable and certain, after South Korea's Constitutional Court unanimously removed Yoon Suk-yeol from office on Friday, ending his tumultuous presidency and setting up a new election.

"China has taken note of the ruling and related decisions. This is the internal affair of South Korea. We hope that South Korea will advance its domestic political agenda in an orderly manner and maintain political and social stability," Lin said at a regular news briefing in Beijing.

The spokesman said that China and South Korea are close neighbors that cannot be moved and cooperative partners that cannot be separated.

"We are willing to work with South Korea to firmly pursue the direction of good-neighborliness and friendship, adhere to the goal of mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, and promote the healthy and stable development of the China-South Korea strategic cooperative partnership," Lin said.
