Sun Yingsha wins women's singles title at WTT Europe Smash

HELSINKI - Sun Yingsha won the women's singles title as the World Table Tennis (WTT) Europe Smash concluded in Malmo, Sweden on Sunday.
In the women's singles final, world No 1 Sun defeated compatriot and world No 2 Wang Manyu 4-2. Sun claimed the opening two games, Wang leveled by taking the next two, but Sun regained control to close out the match.
In the men's singles final, world No 1 Lin Shidong battled local favorite Truls Moregard of Sweden through seven tight games. With the score tied at 3-3, Moregard held firm to win 4-3.
The 2025 WTT Europe Smash, the first Grand Smash event staged in Europe, ran from Aug 14-24 in Malmo with competitions in men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles.
