SOFIA - Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said on Monday that Bulgaria could play a significant role in Lebanon's recovery and economic development.

Radev made the remarks following talks with visiting Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. He said they discussed cooperation in various fields, including economy, investment, trade, defense, and agriculture.

A joint commission for economic, scientific, and technical cooperation was proposed to create an institutional framework for closer coordination between the two sides.

The two leaders expressed hope that the direct air link between Beirut and Sofia will be restored to facilitate people-to-people and business exchanges.
