It is completely legitimate and reasonable for China to take measures to ban exports of dual-use goods that can serve military purposes to Japan, the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
The measures are in accordance with laws and regulations, which aim to uphold national sovereignty and interest, as well as fulfill the international obligation of nonproliferation, the ministry's spokeswoman Mao Ning said.
Mao stressed that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's erroneous remarks on Taiwan infringed on China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, blatantly interfered in China's internal affair and sent a military threat against China.
In response to Tokyo's protest against the export control, she urged Japan to face up to the root of the issue, reflect on and correct its wrongdoing, and retract the erroneous remarks.
