Venezuela announces release of a large number of prisoners

CARACAS -- Venezuela's National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez said Thursday that the government is carrying out the release of "a significant number of Venezuelan and foreign people."

Rodriguez said the measure reflects the government's "unwavering commitment to guaranteeing peace in the Republic and promoting peaceful coexistence among all people, regardless of political, religious, economic or social differences."
