Death toll rises to 30 after crane collapse derails train in Thailand

A crane at a China-backed high-speed rail project in Thailand collapsed onto a passenger train on January 14 and caused it to derail, killing at least 28 people and injuring dozens more, authorities said.

BANGKOK -- The death toll from a crane collapse that derailed a passenger train in northeastern Thailand has risen to 30, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.

The number of injured has climbed to 67, said authorities.
