China's national legislature opens annual session
Li Hongzhong, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, delivered explanatory remarks on a draft environmental code, a draft law on promoting ethnic unity and progress, and a draft law on national development planning, respectively.
Compiling the environmental code will provide robust legal safeguards for ecological and environmental protection in China's journey toward modernization, according to the explanatory remarks.
The formulation of the law on promoting ethnic unity and progress is aimed at advancing the high-quality development of the cause of ethnic unity and progress, with a focus on fostering a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, said the remarks.
The law on national development planning, according to the remarks, is expected to raise the level of law-based governance in national development planning and enhance the strategic guidance role of national plans.
