KABUL -- Nine people have been killed over the past 24 hours in eastern Afghanistan as heavy rain caused roof collapses.
A mother and her two children lost their lives and two others sustained injuries after the roof of their house collapsed in Wardak province, east of Afghanistan, on Sunday night, the provincial police spokesman said Monday.
Meanwhile, at least six children were killed and seven others injured when the roofs of mud-brick houses collapsed under heavy rainfall in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province over the past 24 hours, provincial police said on Monday.
Rainstorms and flash floods have killed nearly 100 people and injured more than 150 others over the past 10 days in Afghanistan. The meteorological department has forecast more rain over the next 24 hours in parts of the country.
