Japanese scholar warns of potential risks in military expansion

Hiroshi Onishi, an emeritus professor at Keio University and vice-chairman of the World Association for Political Economy, has warned against the potential risks of military expansion. He noted that before World War II, Japan financed large-scale military buildup through massive government bond issuance.

Onishi also expressed clear opposition to rising defense spending, warning that it would significantly erode household consumption and undermine overall economic strength.
