A two-day fire rescue dog competition concluded on Friday in Jinan, Shandong province, uniting 30 handlers and their canine partners from eight provincial-level regions, including Shanxi, Hebei, Beijing, Inner Mongolia, Jilin, Heilongjiang, and Gansu.

Organized in a "one handler, one dog" real-operation format, the event tested teams across six disciplines of individual obedience, obstacle climbing, debris search, mudslide search, container search, and a comprehensive rescue drill. The scenarios were designed to simulate earthquakes, building collapses, and mudslides, three common challenges in disaster response.

The competition assessed how well handlers and dogs work together, communicate under pressure, and carry out search missions in complex environments, highlighting the critical role of rescue dog teams in China's emergency response system.
