Seeking to take the lead in new sector developments despite current market adjustments, a group of leading Chinese photovoltaic, or PV, enterprises and research institutions have joined forces to establish the Space Energy Development Alliance, charting an innovative path toward next-generation energy solutions.
The alliance was officially launched on Tuesday by 13 founder members, including industry giants GCL (Group) Holdings Co Ltd and Trina Solar, during the International Photovoltaic Power Generation and Smart Energy Conference & Exhibition held in Shanghai.
While the specific objectives and operational details of the alliance have not yet been disclosed, the move sends a clear signal that China's PV industry is actively exploring the vast potential of space-based solar power.
While intensified competition and overcapacity have temporarily squeezed corporate profit margins, industry players believe venturing into space solar energy may offer these enterprises a strategic breakthrough to overcome current market challenges.
