Fifteen student projects won gold awards at the Central Asia regional contest of the China International College Students' Innovation Competition, held from Sunday to Monday in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, as organizers pushed to deepen science, education, and industrial ties across the region.

Ma Chuang, vice-president of Northwest A&F University in Shaanxi province, a co-organizer of the event, said he hoped the competition would give students from China and Central Asia a platform to collaborate on scientific and technological innovation that benefits the wider region.

Since launching in March, the competition has drawn 736 teams from 108 universities across the five Central Asian countries. Thirty-five projects from 19 universities advanced to the finals, where a panel of experts evaluated entries.

Seyar Ablyametov, an undergraduate from the Tashkent State Technical University and one of the gold award recipients, expressed gratitude for the cross-border platform. "It broadens our horizons through exchanges and enhances our capabilities through hands-on practice," he said.
