Hardware needed for flight operations has been installed on CNS Sichuan, China's largest and mightiest amphibious assault ship, China Central Television reported on Sunday.

The State broadcaster published a short music video on its military channel's WeChat account, featuring scenes of the gigantic vessel in sea trials.

According to the video, the electromagnetic launch system — or electromagnetic catapult — the arresting gear system, and flight deck markings have all been in place, and people can patiently wait for "good news".

Built by China State Shipbuilding Corp, the Sichuan is the first in the Type 076 class, which is usually categorized as a class of landing helicopter dock in the West. The ship has a large displacement of more than 40,000 metric tons.

Upon commissioning, it will support operations by fixed-wing drones, helicopters, and amphibious landing craft.

The Sichuan is the first amphibious assault ship in China equipped with an electromagnetic catapult and the first capable of deploying large fixed-wing drones.

By now, the ship has completed several sea trials since its maiden voyage in November of last year.
