The Global Taste in Shanghai series of activities has effectively boosted dining consumption this year, as restaurants participating in the event report double-digit growth in both dine-in orders and revenues, according to the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce.
The seasonal Global Taste in Shanghai launched its Asia Flavors Season on July 2 and vowed to make the series a bonanza for driving consumption through the universal language of delicious food.
Participating restaurants reported 15.8 percent growth in dine-in orders and a 14.5 percent revenue surge from January to May, the organizers said.
A total of 105 restaurants made their debut in Shanghai during the first five months of the year, including 73 Chinese (69.5 percent) and 28 Western restaurants (26.7 percent), reported the Consumer Market Big Data Laboratory (Shanghai).
