East China's Fujian province has upgraded its emergency response to prepare for Typhoon Bavi, the ninth of this year, which is forecast to make landfall early on Sunday, bringing heavy rain.
The province has suspended some passenger trains starting from Saturday and closed 66 ferry routes to ensure travel safety. Local authorities have halted 110 water construction projects and ordered yachts back to ports.
To secure the power grid, emergency crew members have cleared loose debris near critical transmission lines. Meanwhile, major scenic spots in Fujian, such as Mount Wuyi, have been temporarily closed.
