Hongshan culture already had symmetrical layouts over 5,000 years ago

At the 2026 Conference on Hongshan Culture, Jia Xiaobing, director and research fellow at the Department of World Archaeology, Institute of Archaeology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, shared the civilizational value behind archaeological discoveries at the Niuheliang site. From the spatial arrangement of architectural complexes to early examples of symmetrical layouts along a central axis, the Hongshan culture showcases the wisdom of ancient ancestors over 5,000 years ago in architectural planning and engineering construction.
