Nan Li Collins, chair of UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative and chair of Global Special Economic Zone Alliance, has highlighted the role of international platforms in fostering dialogue and cooperation ahead of the Future Investment Conference 2026.
"At a time when investment decisions are increasingly influenced by uncertainty and economic fragmentation, platforms that sustain communication and cross-border cooperation are more important than ever," said Li in a pre-conference interview. "The FIC can serve as a bridge between developed and developing economies, between public policy and private capital, and between technological innovation and broader development objectives."
The FIC2026, co-hosted by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and the Xiamen Municipal Government, will be held from Sept 8 to 9 in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, alongside the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade.
The conference will bring together global leaders from government, business, finance and international organizations to examine how investment can respond to a changing global economy shaped by AI, geopolitical uncertainty, the restructuring of global value chains, and the energy transition.
Discussions will also cover new industrialization, life sciences and healthcare, and the ocean economy. Participants include representatives from ABB, China Investment Corporation, China International Capital Corporation, Microsoft China, and the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, alongside leaders from Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
According to Li, Xiamen's long history of openness, strong connectivity with global and regional markets, and extensive experience in convening governments, investors, and businesses through CIFIT make it an effective platform for international investment dialogue and cooperation.
