China's northernmost high-speed railway starts service

HARBIN -- China's northernmost high-speed railway, running through a region of discontinuous permafrost in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, officially entered service on Monday.

The first train departed from the forest city of Yichun at 10:26 am and is scheduled to arrive in Harbin, the provincial capital, at 12:05 pm, according to China Railway Harbin Group Co., Ltd.
