China's civil aviation sector prepares for passenger surge during National Day holiday

China's civil aviation sector is gearing up for a surge in passenger traffic during the seven-day National Day holiday starting Thursday, with major airports expecting heavy flows and international travel showing particularly strong growth.

Beijing Capital International Airport anticipates handling over 1.66 million passenger trips during the holiday, averaging 237,000 daily. The airport expects to manage 9,448 flights, or about 1,350 per day, with passenger traffic peaking on Oct 1 and Oct 7 at over 245,000 trips each day.

Popular domestic destinations include Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Chongqing, and Guiyang, while Bangkok, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, and Bali are top international choices.

Reflecting broader national demand, the civil aviation sector is expected to handle 31.19 million passenger trips from Sept 25 to Oct 7, averaging 2.4 million daily, up 3.6 percent year-on-year, according to Ma Bing, deputy head of the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
