"China is our biggest overseas market in terms of audience, and with around 25 million people playing tennis, it is also one of the world's largest participation markets."
Campbell said Tennis Australia has evolved from promoting the Australian Open only during the January tournament to maintaining a year-round presence in China through digital content, fan engagement initiatives and commercial partnerships.
At part of its strategy, the governing body on Tuesday unveiled the AO 1 Point Slam China Series, a five-city competition in one-point knock-out format that will send one Chinese winner to compete in the global One Point Slam final during the 2027 Australian Open in Melbourne for a chance to win AU$1 million ($650,000).
That strategy has also helped the organization build a portfolio of six Chinese partners, including Luzhou Laojiao, Haier, Pongbot, Luckin Coffee, Augerta (Tsingtao) and Didi.
Casarte, Haier's premium home appliance brand, will be the presenting partner of the AO 1 Point Slam China Series, extending Haier's global partnership with the Australian Open into the Chinese market.
